Studying should not be done a night before the exam but should be a night after the lesson was taught in class. It is very true, I admit that when I’m on my studying years, I’m one hell of a crammer. Though I survived, elementary, high school and college levels, I still believe that by having an effective study habit will give good results in class because by studying early days before the exam, you’ll get less pressure and will be confident enough to face the challenges of the academic life.
To start the discussion going, here are the top 10 study tips that you should do:
Pick a Place and Time
One of the considerations to study effectively is to find the best place to study. What do I mean of this? If you’ll going to ask me, I prefer to study on my room, quiet with the door locked but if you’ll going to ask others, they prefer to study on a place with loud music. So, with these I must say that it’s your call on what type of study area you prefer. As long as you are absorbing what you are studying then it’s good.
When talking about the time, same criteria goes when your choosing the study area. If you are a nocturnal and wants to study at night, then better sleep early for you to prepare for studying and also allot time for sleeping hours after so that you can rest and have energy for the upcoming exam.
Make Studying a Habit
Do you know what a habit is? If you’d search the meaning of habit in Google, a habit is a practice or a regularly tendency that is hard to give up. So, if you’d think of this clearly, your achievements would eventually dictate on the outcome of your daily habits. So, if you expect to get high grades but do not study at all then I assume that you won’t achieve that expectation. If you study enough, I am expecting that you’ll get to understand your lessons which will eventually lead to higher grade.
According to a study, to make a habit you should do a thing that you want to be a habit for 21 days.

Review
At least once a week, go back to your past lessons. Create a summary of all the lessons you’ve studied. You can ask a friend to ask you questions or write exam early on and answer it after a week.
Take Breaks
Studying while your stressed, feeling tired or frustrated won’t let you learn freely. That’s why taking a break every once in a while would simply help to get you back on the right track.
Seek for help
If you’re stuck on a lesson and don’t know how to solve a problem, ask someone who’s more knowledgeable than you. You can ask the brightest on class, or your subject teacher for guidance.
Last day, I’ve read a post that says: “forget setting goals but rather focus on the system of what you are doing instead.” I know many of you who are reading this blog are parents who are under-achieving or children who finds it difficult to excel in school. For parents, please be patient enough to understand what your kid’s going through. He may not be performing well but with proven and time tested habits, I would assume that he will get to your expectations somehow but do not expect too much from them. Do not set goals for them but instead let your kids commit to a process.
